A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android

DEPRECIATED NO LONGER SUPPORTED OR DEVELOPED

Edit, the study has concluded and data collection has been removed, thank you all who participated, this was a very interesting and eye opening experiment and I hope from my results I can inform and educate other developers on how unethical and evil surprise mechanics (lootboxes, csgo crates things like that) are and why they shouldn't be used.

Get money is an incremental game where you spend money to make money.

A game first and a study second (read on for more info).

This game was created for my honours project (links below). I wanted to create a study that wasn't as boring as forcing people to fill in a questionnaire and then making them play something that is very clearly a hastily put together prototype made to answer a question. So I made this, it's a game first and a study second. And by complete accident, I created something that allows anyone to take part in my research.

If you want to help me in my study, please download the game and play it for as long as you want.

If you just want to play the game as an incremental game, then by all means opt out from the settings menu.

The next part is just so that I don't get sent to jail.

By downloading and playing this game, you are agreeing to take part in a study.  By taking part in this study, you agree to have gameplay based analytical data collected. If you want more information, or do not want to take part in the study, please go to the settings section of the game and select the opt out option.

If you want to update to a new version, simply export your save data from the settings and import it into the new version

I don't think that the boost given for a prestige is high enough. Adding only 0.05 to the production bonus makes very little difference, especially when the amount of money needed for your next prestige doesn't reset.

I am now at 16 production level, which gives me a x1.8 boost which is not much really.

I think that either 0.5 boost per level or the amount of money needed for prestiging never increasing would be a good way to go for this kind of game.

I like it though. I just wish that I could progress more.

Maybe that idea is a little OP.

Another thought I had is that the prestige production boost value shouldn't reset when you spend money. It has still been earned and used after all.

All it means is that on each playthrough, you will get to a point when you have to decide to stop playing the game and just click until you can't bear it any longer in order to reset.

It would be better if every click counted, that way you are always playing the game.

Hey man - the Mac version doesn't work for me :(

Aww man, sorry about that, I was on a time limit to get it out the door to get test data :( between you and me, it wasn't that great, the difficulty curve is way too high come the middle of the game, that's on me. But on the bright side, I have data for my project! I'll be linking it soon.

At some point, I will take all the knowledge I've gained and create a less bad game xoxo

Another little bug I noticed, this time a real one I think.  Passive Product Creation shows it's amount in the middle of the screen as having the production bonus added in.  i.e. it's showing .625 per level when having a production bonus of 1.25.  But it's only giving 0.5 per level.  At level 3 of PPC I'm watching the "product" tic up at 1.5 per tic.

I'll take a looksi at it, thanks for pointing that out :))

(1 edit)

Might be a little laggy on the button presses to buy upgrades. I had enough coins but couldn't buy 1, but then it let me buy 5 half a second later.  Could just be my pc.

This happened consistently during my play time.

I patched the button press issue... I think. Thank you for your feedback! If you want to continue your game on the new version just export the text from the settings and then import it into the new one :D

Thanks I'll try it out.

Now I notice the time bars filling up on the buy 1 5 or 10 buttons. So it was probably fine the whole time and I clicked too fast.
